This One ​Digital Multi function Installation Tester Covers Safety, Fault Finding & Compliance for installations, switchboards, socket outlets, plant & machinery. Built for AS/NZS: 3000 Mandatory Testing Requirements. The MFT4 is a true multi-function tester. Loaded with powerful features that are readily accessible by the selector switch and clearly marked push buttons. Compared to other brands the EFO MFT4 has no complex menu or start up procedures to navigate. A large back lit LCD screen displays high accuracy results and also benefits from the latest in the digital microprocessor technology which delivers stable readings without digit flicker.

 

The MFT4 has been designed to safe guard the user as well as protection for the tester. Continuity and Insulation functions are rated at 500V CATIII. Loop and RCD functions are rated at CATIV 300V. Dangerous supply conditions or potential hazards are indicated by a red neon and audible alarm. The MFT4 is fuse protected the LCD will display a fuse blown alert in the event this occurs. The enclosure is double insulated for extra protection. All ranges are Subsequently protected against an over voltage situation up to 550V. To ensure the user uses the correct inputs there is also a safety interlock for the test inputs.

Features

Insulation Testing

250/500/1000V Selectable Test Voltage. When conducting the insulation test the output test voltage is also displayed, ensuring that the test is in accordance with the Australian Standard. This function is not present in standard Analogue testers. The MFT4 incorporates the latest design technology in Digital Insulation Testing which offers benefits not previously available. Rapid testing in just 5 seconds, the MFT4 performs a safety check for the presence of external voltage , discharges any circuit voltage and displays a high accuracy stable test result. ( 0.01MΩ to 999MΩ). A visual and audible alert informs the user of dangerous or incorrect voltage and polarity. By pressing the hands free button the tester behaves just like an analogue tester on the lock function.

Continuity Testing

200mA Output Test Current Rapid testing in just 2 seconds, the MFT4 performs a safety check for the presence of external voltage and displays a high accuracy stable test result (0.01Ω to 19.99KΩ). A visual and audible alert informs the user of dangerous or incorrect voltage and polarity. Enabling Auto Null takes out the resistance of the test leads or trailing leads with a press of a button.

Trailing Lead Provision

By enabling the Auto Null function the resistance of a trailing lead can automatically be cancelled out of the Low Ohm continuity test when testing the earthing of fixed appliances, swimming pool fences, light fixtures and hot water services.

Loop Impedance Testing 

High current mode for testing at the distribution board 2 wire test. Low current no trip RCD function for downstream testing at the socket outlet 3 wire test. The high current test includes the element of reactance for high accuracy testing compared to old technology loop impedance testers. Flying leads for testing at the switchboard to check the external loop impedance of the installation and a 3 Pin plug lead set for testing at the socket outlets are all included.

PSC Prospective 

PSC Prospective Short Circuit Current, PFC Prospective Fault Current. On completion of the loop test both the PSC and PFC can be viewed. This is an important check to verify that the circuit protection is rated high enough to handle the fault current that would result in the event of a short circuit active to earth or active to neutral.

RCD Testing  Ramp/Trip Time

Trip time in ms displayed, Diagnostic Ramp test. Trip time can be manually tested for 10mA, 60mA, 100mA, 300mA and 500mA Type AC RCD’s. Actual reading in ms is displayed along with Pass/ Fail result in accordance with the Australian Standard. Every time the test is repeated the MFT4 alternates the between testing the positive half cycle 0o and the negative half cycle of the AC sine wave 180o. RCD’s installed in medical and wet areas rated at 10mA can also be tested using the MFT4 which displays the test result as well as a Pass/Fail. The MFT4 has as a standard feature a 60mA range which should indicate half the trip time as the 30mA test displayed. This is an alternative test to the 5X test or 150mA test on a 30mA rated RCD. Auto 30mA function performs 6 tests – ( ½ x)15mA at 0o and 180o,(1x) 30mA at 0o and 180o and (5x) 150mA at 0o and 180o.When using the Auto test mode it is simply a matter of initiating the test and then going to the distribution board resetting the RCD for the 30mA and 150mA tests. On completion of the test sequence the test results can be recalled the MFT4 also displays a Pass/Fail overall result if all conditions are met in accordance with the Australian Standards. Diagnostic Ramp test function which increases current until the RCD trips. This test is very useful to determine the sensitivity of the RCD and can also be used to determine the amount of leakage current present on the circuit.

Polarity 

The MFT4 has a mains polarity function which can determine the installation active neutral polarity is correctly wired.

Battery Save

Auto off function is in built even on the Insulation function so there is no need to worry about forgetting to turn the meter off.
